I know this sounds bad but the trip was kind of disappointing. It was good in the fact that we were able to get away, but Gatlinburg is so crowded it felt like we weren't able to spend time together. You had to fight to talk over the trafic and other vacationers. After the first night we had seen all we really felt we needed to see of "the strip".
We spent the next day driving through the smokies and going for some short hikes. Jake was interviewed by a TV station on his knowledge of local wildlife (they had no idea what they had gotten themselves into). At one point the host said "I'm supposed to be asking you the questions".
One of our short hikes was literally up the side of a mountain. Once you reached the top you had to walk up this space ship looking path, I thought I was going to die. Listening to all of the other hikers comments made me realize how out of shape America really is.

Here are a few of my favorite pics.
