Stop and Ponder

Why do they sterilize the needles for lethal injection? I know I'm twisted but that made me laugh.

Ahh the Flea Market

What you won't find at the flea market! I always find it somewhat comical what people sell at the flea market but Charlotte seams to have the best finds.

To date she has purchased the most adorable donkey (Jack), a lama(mocha) and an alpaca (latte). I mean where else would you make such purchases?

Just a lazy stroll around the lake...

So Jake and I went over to Nate and Em's yesterday. Before dinner we were going to go on a walk around the lake and enjoy the early colors showing in the trees. We rode the bike over so I brought a pair of simple slip on shoes to walk in, my first mistake.

We ended up hiking through the woods behind Nate's parents house. We reached a certain fence and after all of us climbed very carefully across the barbed wire Charlotte says "so from this point on we're trespassing."

We shortly reached the lake which then commenced conversation of who do you think owns it and how could we get permission to camp on it. Which was followed by a you don't ask you just do it then you are naive when they say you can't (another shocking comment from the mother of the group). We all enjoyed the view of the lake and walked along the dam. Finally after checking the time we decided it would be best to start heading back.

Then came the "adventure". While we all tromped along in the very thick underbrush someone made the mistake of asking Nate if he was sure we were going in the right direction. He then announced that we should have no fear for we are in Nathan Grindstaff country. This was followed by about two hours of aimless wandering through the woods trying to find the way out.

My heroic husband decided he knew exactly where we were and would find the way out. He then took off running in the near opposite direction and we didn't see him until we were back at the house.

By this time it was dusk and Charlotte and Emma were getting a bit nervous which was making Nathan even more confused. Charlotte at one point called her husband back at the house and asked if he would go to the back of the property in the truck and honk the horn so we could follow the noise. This request was quickly followed by "don't laugh, it isn't funny!"

Nathan finally decided to climb a tree to look around and get his bearings. About fifteen minutes we finally made it out into one of the fields. When it was all said and done there were several scratches, bruises, torn pants and sweaty people!

Canoeing

Last weekend we went camping and canoeing with a group of friends. We had a blast. The campground was on the side of the mountain and overlooked the lake. The regular campsites were decks that they built over the side of the mountain.

We had a good time around the fire and we played cornhole (still seems wrong even saying that). After looking at pictures my husband came to the realization that he's...hairy!

We had to canoe through tons of trout fisherman.

Flashback to 1960's

Graduation parties down here can't just be a normal party, you have to have a theme. Which has turned out to be annoying and fun at the same time. Annoying because you have to shell out money to make sure you have a cool costume and fun because who doesn't want to dress up in a costume for no apparent reason?!

We have had several different themes: cowboy, pants party (would you like to come to a party in my pants? yes that is how the idea originated), cat in the hat, high school musical, and the latest 1960's.

After doing some research I found that the 60's really aren't that far away. I bought my "costume" at The Walmart in the women's clothing section. I don't know how women kept any hair on their head or how they had time to do anything else. It literally took me two hours to do my hair.
