Friday's Movie Day

About once a month I have the teenager girls over to watch extremely long girlie movies. The first two Fridays were dedicated to Pride and Prejudice, then we watched Gone With the Wind, next time is Scarlet...planned titles include all (yes that's right all) Jane Austin flics.

What could be better than a morning of service followed by lots of wallering and chocolate?!

Poopies!

My baby girl has grown up and is going to have her own baby girls! This time next week I could be a grandma...

**pic soon to come**

Ahh, Wally-world

I went to WalMart to purchase deoderant...I left with a single bag costing $37. My husbands only reponse...

..."well there's no questioning where you learned that from"...

I LOVE YOU MOM!

Nashville Photos

I have promised these for some time...luv ya Noah

Adult-hood

After camping this past weekend I think it's official. I've reached adult-hood. Here are a few reasons I believe this to be true:

I got tired of the non-stop teanage giggling

wasn't too impressed when a few decided to cut open a golf ball to see the gutts burn in a fire

relaxing in the hot tub was more important than trying to beat anyone at video games

Lounging around to watch a football game no one is really interested in had no appeal

didn't pay attention when the teanage boys decided to play all skins football

and last but not least...

I was way too tired to stay up any later than 1 am

Living in the Bible Belt

There is one thing I can say about living in the Bible belt. You see some pretty interesting church signs. There is a church near my house, I should say one of the churches near my house, always has some "eye catching" displays. Here are my two favorites.

"Friends don't let friends go to hell!"

and the current...

"God is like coca cola...he's the real thing"

VOCABULARY

The Oxford Dictionary has over 600,000 words. The average American knows (doesn’t necessarily use) 10,000 to 20,000 words. So why did it surprise me at work today when a woman, I’m guessing in her mid-forties, asked how to spell immediately?

Not only did she make this request openly to a room full of co-workers but she followed it with “I tried all kinds of combos in Word and it just didn’t give me anything”.

I don’t know given the statistics maybe my standards are a little high.

Ben Harper Concert

Jacob spoiled me to a Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals concert at the Ryman in Nashville on Wednesday night. It was absolutely amazing! The Ryman is layed out so that it has no bad seats. Jacob said we were about thirty feet from Ben Harper.

They sounded exactly like their album. The number of different instruments they had on the stage just blew my mind. Ben Harper played like five different instruments himself.

The best part was when he had the whole audience be quiet, walked to the edge of the stage and sang without a microphone!

PUPPIES!

So I am officially a mommy-pimp. I sent Ainsley to the breeder last week. She was bred to another black shnauzer named Jack Black. Apparently my sweet little girl is a tease. The breeder said she kept running up to Jack's kennel, putting her hind end against the fence, once he looked she would run away.

So we are going to have puppies in six weeks! You know what's even better? The puppies will be ready to sell two weeks before Christmas. I see dollar signs already!

First Haircut

So a couple weeks ago I was sitting at the Sunday meeting and couldn't take my eyes off of my sister-in-law and niece's hair.

It is so unbelievably long! And because of this both of them do not take care of it. So after the meeting I announced to them that they were getting it chopped that evening.

The girls were actually pretty happy, however, it took quite a bit of debating with their mothers and father. I tried to use the argument that if we cut 10" we could donate it to locks of love. My mother-in-law wanted to know when I became so worried about community services. In the end Maggie had a "subtle difference".

Lexxie has wanted a hair cut since she could talk. Her father has never let her. So in her four years of life this was her first haircut. I pulled it into a ponytail and made the first huge cut. The pieces fell forward and I heard a belly deap gasp from the little girl on my stool.

I must say I was a little paniced. I didn't have time to do anything because the gasp followed with "I love it, I love it, I love it!". She has been flipping her hair ever since.

Tea Party

There are two sisters in our hall that like to host tea parties for the different sisters. I was invited to one such party.

I got there and it was all the sisters in my hall in my same age group. The table was setup beautifully with little bite size foods and desserts and four pots of hot tea. We each had dainty little plates and frilly napkins. All just proves that all girls like to feel pretty.

After our first round of tea everyone started sharing stories of the little girls in the hall that enjoy sharing not so pleasant noises. After lots of giggling and several stories later one of our hostesses started chuckling and said "isn't this great, all of the girls get together to have tea and share fart stories."

Field Service in TN

I recently have checked out a county territory. My Friday morning group consisted of two Ramsey girls and Leslie. I explained to Leslie that my territory was kind of rough so it would be best not to take her BMW.

After a 25 minute drive to the territory we took the first side road to the left. After a few yards of pavement it turned to gravel, this isn't too uncommon so we continued on.

After about ten minutes of driving the "road" became somewhat rough terrain. There were big potholes filled with water. I took great joy in speeding up so it would splash over the car.

Leslie became more and more nervous as the road continued with no prospect of inhabitance. We then took a bend and came stopped in front of a creek bed. After several "what if we get stuck?'s" I answered, "well there's no way I'm backing up". We splashed through with no problems as one of the girls in the back said "I feel like I'm on a truck comercial!".

To complete this wonderful "off roading service" we finally reached the end. I smiled to myself as I saw the turn around completely made of mud. I made a nice sliding circle to go back through the wonderful obstacles.

Oh how I love our territory (and my car)!

Crazy Cardinals

I got a phonecall from my husband while I was working one day. He was ranting and raving about being woke up all morning by an obnoxious tapping noise.

He had been yelling at the dogs and finally decided to get up to give them their final judgement when he discovered it was not the dogs making the ruckous.

A female cardinal had discovered our backdoor. She had perched herself and was "knocking" all morning. After documenting the proof you see to the right, Jacob decided to let our dogs out to run her off.

Once she saw both dogs were satisfactorily side tracked she returned to her post and resumed "knocking". This continued for about three days.

When I shared the story with my Mother-in-law she said "she must be crazy".

Family Visit's

My brother came down to visit for the weekend. He has posted all the stories that I'm sure you've already read. So I won't bore you with my own version. I do have some more pics to share though...

Pagosa Springs, CO cont.

Enjoy... :)

Pagosa Springs, CO

So where do I begin? Our trip was amazing! It took twenty four hours to travel out there. We stopped in Tucumcari, NM and slept at a hotel. Got up early the next morning and watched the sunrise over teh desert. The scenery from there to Pagosa was breathtaking.

On one of our trips to the house we saw elk, mule deer, prairie dogs, long horn cattle, horses and bald eagles all within fifteen minutes. Not only that but the backdrop was blue snow capped mountains. It made you pray to Jehovah and thank him for the wonderful creation he has blessed us with.

One of my favorite experiences was seeing the bald eagles. We discovered a family of bald eagles. There were the two adults, two young adults and two babies. The babies were on the ground learning how to fly. The next day or so we saw the same pair soaring overhead. We all pushed to the right of the car shouting "did you see that!". One of the eagles had dived and snatched a crow right out of the air.

The day we were leaving I was taking blankets and pillows out to the car and saw another pair of bald eagles. They landed in the trees just across from me. I ran inside and grabbed my camera, I got within fifteen yards of this eagle and rafters came down the river and scared it off. I was so mad. The above is the best picture I was able to get.

Skiing was awesome. Emma and I had never skied before so we took classes. They taught us things like how to stop and turn, very helpful.

Our first day I was out of breath before we even reached the ticket counter. I was very close to bursting into tears. So we went ahead and took the classes anyways. I ended up having a great time, ofcourse. The only time I fell was the first time I went on the lift. Emma and I rode together and we were getting ready to come. Emma lost her balance and grabbed my shoulder. We both were laying on our backs laughing hysterically. Meanwhile, the horrible liftee's were screaming at the top of their lungs telling us to get up and out of the way. Jacob got altitude sickness and was did not have as much fun as he had hoped.

The next day was great because Emma and I were wandering around the house feeling fine and the guys were moaning and groaning about how soar and tired they were. It was quite satisfying. In pagosa they have natural hot springs that they have turned into a "spa" (picture at right). We went to help sooth our soar muscles. It was pretty cool, you wandered from tub to tub with the temperature listed outside. The hottest tub we went in was 109 degrees. It was very nice!

Our second day of skiing didn't start off so hot. It was our first turn through the lift and the stupid liftee pushed me! My skis crossed, I twisted my knee and fell. I had to duck to keep from being decapitated by the lift bench. It hit the middle of my spine and they had to shut it down. The liftee continued to tell me how tough I was and throw me in teh seat. Not only did this happen but I had a class full of wolf pups (little kids) with the teacher saying "see that's why we turn to watch the chair". Oh well I made it to the top free and clear.

The rest of the day was awesome. We would call the guys every once and while to see where they were. Jacob would be the only one to answer panting heavily and explaining that he was chest deep in powder and wouldn't be out for about ten minutes. Emma and I took our second class that ended up being private lessons because everyone else bailed. It was great!

The rest of the time we did a little shopping around town and relaxing at home. All in all a vacation worth remembering!

#1 Fighter

We have a mouse problem at work. I was tired of finding droppings all over my desk so I decided to set some traps. In one night I caught three mice (two on one trap). I was so proud, I was the ordained mouse killer. Apparently the mice decided to take their avenge their friends death.

I have a very much loved fish that keeps me company named Onyong. The avenger decided to take fin for tale. Monday morning the girls came into the office and found...Onyong had defended my honor and drowned the mouse!
He is still dealing with this traumatic attack and looks rather tattered. However, the score stands:

Onyong - 1
Mice - 0

Walt Disney Would Be Proud

Friday Leslie's niece Emma joined us in service. We had a great day singing all the Disney songs we could think of.

After a long day while waiting for her ride Emma fell asleep. She started to rustle a little with very quiet mumbling. She raised her head still heavily asleep and said dramatically "...part of your world!"
