People Watching

One of my favorite pass times! I was standing at a checkout and two of the women workers were speaking of who I only assume to be their boss.

They were discussing how hateful she is and they just don't understand why, as one blurts out, "You don't understand, I've been psychoanalyzing her since I started here." The other replies with "Oh, I know me too." The first then says "No, you really don't understand, I majored in psychology, like I've really been analyzing her!"

And where do you suppose I was waited on by this psychology major? Blockbuster! I mean where else would you think to find a psychologist?

2008 Scottish Highland Games

This years games in Glasgow KY were exciting because we took our nephew Caleb with us. It was so nice getting to see him be a baby! Jake and I rode the motorcycle up (I never knew my butt could hurt so bad).

The games themselves were good. We were able to spend time with Jake's grandparents. They invited us to a clan dinner with an open bar, that was pretty exciting.

On the way home Jake and I got caught in a huge downpour and had to hide under a gas station cover for about an hour before everyone else caught up.

Here are a few pics from the games and céilidh.

Tell me that's not sexy :)

Chattanooga Aquarium

A couple of our friends volunteer at the aquarium cleaning tanks and feeding fish. They had one evening where all the volunteers could bring their friends for free and see all the "behind the scenes" stuff. It was pretty cool, the tanks are a lot smaller than they look through the tour. All in all it was neat to see and we had Indian food before we went home...mmm...curry.

Poopie Pictures

Although they are long gone I did promise pictures. Looking at them all makes me want to do it again! Although they are long gone I did promise pictures. Looking at them all makes me want to do it again!

Anniversary Trip

Jake and I went to Gatlinburg for our anniversary. It was one of those things that kind of jumped up on us. We didn't make any reservations just drove there and asked for availability in a hotel a friend recommended.

I know this sounds bad but the trip was kind of disappointing. It was good in the fact that we were able to get away, but Gatlinburg is so crowded it felt like we weren't able to spend time together. You had to fight to talk over the trafic and other vacationers. After the first night we had seen all we really felt we needed to see of "the strip".

We spent the next day driving through the smokies and going for some short hikes. Jake was interviewed by a TV station on his knowledge of local wildlife (they had no idea what they had gotten themselves into). At one point the host said "I'm supposed to be asking you the questions".

One of our short hikes was literally up the side of a mountain. Once you reached the top you had to walk up this space ship looking path, I thought I was going to die. Listening to all of the other hikers comments made me realize how out of shape America really is.

Here are a few of my favorite pics.

I know, I know

Ok so it's only been eight months since my last post what's your problem?

Big South Fork

So I finally finished my first year of Pioneering. Jake and I went camping for a week to recharge before starting again.

The first day was great I layed in a camper bed with the breeze blowing over me as I read a book...my husband paced impatiently outside, stepping in every once in a while to stare at me and say "what are you doing?". He finally decided he would go to the camp office to get some maps and brochures. He came back excited to go see a hiking attraction called the chimney rocks.

I decided to relieve him of his boredom and headed out. We drove for it seemed about an hour until the road came to a dead end. Irritated Jake said I followed the signs the whole way and there are no trails back here. After letting the dogs run a little while we decided to give up.

Before we left the area he said how disappointed he was and I suggested we turn around and see if we could find it the second time around. We came to the sign and he stopped the car, "See, there's the sign but there's nothing else past this point!". After a few seconds there was very short "Oh."

The sign was pointing to the actual chimney rocks :) I love my husband!
